Simple, Homemade Spaghetti O’s

Do you kids love those canned spaghetti o’s {or maybe its you who has a secret love of spaghetti o’s}. Now you can have them – ahem – feed them to your kids without the worry about processed foods, preservatives, and artificial blech.  Plus, this recipe is SO simple and cheap to make! You’re going to be the coolest mom on the block.  And you’re just going to smile and take all the credit and have a little giggle inside that your kids are eating REAL food – with vegetables – and lovin’ it.

Homemade Spaghetti O's from WholesomeMommy.com

This is one of my favorite lunches to make when I am tired and don’t know what to make for lunch and have only a little motivation to feed the natives.  I know I won’t get any gripes or complaints. It will be gobbled up without so much as a whine and often they’ll request seconds.  It’s simple to make, quick to cook, and I often have everything I need in the pantry even when it is time to go to the grocery store and I’ve been procrastinating.  Not that I EVER do that.  I also happen to love these little o’s myself.

And speaking of o’s… you can even get a very familiar shape by using ditalini pasta – nice small little circle pasta.  Perfect for the kiddos and quick to cook because of their size.

  1. Thanks for sharing looks yummy and now that I read your recipe it makes sense it’s basically creamy marinara sauce.

I always wondered what made the sauce taste so “special”

it’s funny, i remember loving spaghetti-os as a child and they were on sale last week for 65 cents so i grabbed a can. i hated them. my 9 yr old hated them. it was a sad day. lol

LOL! I had a similar experience many years ago after entering adulthood – even before I had made the switch to REAL Foods. I decided to give them a try remembering how much I loved them…and they were so GROSS! LOL. Not at all what I remembered! I like this recipe MUCH better! :)

  5. I just found your website and am loving all the recipes! Is there a certain brand of pasta you use that’s whole wheat? I’m not sure where to begin looking for it. The last couple whole wheat brands I’ve found were not tasty at all.
    Thanks!
