REAL food on a Food Stamp Budget Update

I’ve gotten a lot of messages and emails about my REAL Food on a Food Stamp Budget meal plans.  I am THRILLED to hear that so many of you have enjoyed the meal plans and the recipes.  When I released the third meal plan in March, I announced that I was going to take a bit of a break.  Finding out I was pregnant with my third baby was SO exciting but I was also battling morning sickness, insomnia, and exhaustion from trying to juggle raising my two children at home, home school, and running this blog.

WholesomeMommy's Healthy Real Food Meals on a Food Stamp Budget

These meal plans are a lot of work. There is a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into each one – from grocery shopping and pricing every ingredient to cooking tons of new recipes {sometimes more than once} to find the ones that will make the cut, photograph them, and type them up. But, as much time as they take, I know this is how God would have me use my time and it feels good to do something  that will help someone else.

I’m writing this update to let you know that I am still planning to keep my promises.  I finished 3 meal plans before the break and I plan to release 3 more beginning in June.  The best part of this break, I think, is that it will allow me to give you some very different menus.  The first three were winter menus, with lots of pasta, soups, and hearty casseroles.  The next three will fall in the summer months and thus will mirror the types of meals we all like to eat when the weather gets warmer – lots of fresh veggies and grilled meats in lots of fun presentations.

If you’ve just joined me, you aren’t too late. You can actually still get ALL of the meal plans until June.  Beginning in June I will release the first of the summer meal plans and the winter plans will no longer be available.  If you know someone who hasn’t accessed them yet, tell them about it now so they can take advantage of them.

To get the 3 winter meal plans, all you need to do is subscribe and you’ll receive weekly meal plans for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, along with grocery lists {with the price I paid so you can judge your own bill}, prep lists, and all the recipes…FOR FREE.  To subscribe you can do one of two things:

  • If you are on a computer visit {this} website: www.wholesomemommy.com and right at the top on the right hand side there is a box to insert your email into.

As soon as you do EITHER of those things, the rest is simple. You’ll receive a confirmation email asking you if you really wanted to subscribe…of course you did! So, you’re going to want to click that link in the email.  Then, you will receive a second email {almost immediately} with the meal plans, grocery lists, prep plans, etc.  You’ll receive month one first, then you’ll get another surprise in your email the very next day… month 2′s meal plans!  Finally, another day later, you will receive the final winter meal plan {month 3}.

  1. I received the first two months but I haven’t been able to access the 3rd month. How do I do that?

  2. I got the first two months- but where can I get the third? Love these meal plans!

  3. When the first 3 months plans become unavailable, does that mean we have to download/save all the files, or can we still access them through the links in the emails? Thanks!

    • Denisesawyer says:

You’ll still be able to access them. :)
I just won’t be releasing the links via email any more.

      • Sandra Mort says:

        How do you access them?

        • Denisesawyer says:

You subscribe to the blog in the top right corner of the webpage and then in 24 hours or less you should receive the first one. 24 hours after that you’ll receive the second one and so on.

  4. Gwen L says:

Thank you! I’m so excited for the summer plans! It’s finally getting warm around here and I want to break out the grill and the nightly salads. :D

  5. Stephanie says:

Hi Denise.. I was looking over the grocery list for Month 3, week 1 and i see sugar and brown sugar. Is that like organic sugar? Im wondering because im making my grocery list right now and i was just curious if those prices were for organic sugars. I buy organic sugar from walmart but not sure. Thanks in advance for your response.

    • Denisesawyer says:

Those prices are for regular. I don’t see a big difference in organic sugar/regular sugar. Now, if you are trying to find a REAL food subsitute that would be better, sucanat is a good swap that I use from brown sugar and honey granules are a great swap for white sugar {except in cold beverages}. However, both are more costly and won’t work into this VERY frugal budget. Some things I had to just go with the regular and I tried to only do this with the lesser of evil items. In other words, if I’m working on a VERY tight budget, dairy and meat are both at the TOP of my list to get organic/grass fed/humanely raised, etc. as are fruits and veggies from the dirty dozen. Condiments, flours, and sweeteners are closer to the bottom of priorities although if you are trying to do it all and have the money, the items I mentioned above are the way to go. :)
      Hope that helps,
      Wholesome Mommy

      • Stephanie says:

Ahh ok i see. I use sucanat, raw honey and “evaporated cane juice”.. Is that better than sugar?? I have read a lot about sugar being gmo and im trying to steer clear from gmo. Im a new real foodie lol only about a month on 2 in.. And im also on a food stamp budget. My husband is a little upset because he says he looks in the fridge and there’s nothing readily available.. Im having some what of a hard time :-\ any advice or post you can recommend that i read?

  6. I signed up for the emails, but I must be missing something. I don’t know where I can find the actual menus. If someone, anyone, could enlighten me I would appreciate it. Love this website and all the information and recipes!

  7. Shanna Chambers says:

I can’t find the newsflash for the new one. Can you please help me find newsflash.
    Thank you

  8. Is there a way to access month two without re-signing up? I had it saved on my email but cannot find :( Thank!

  9. Denise, first I want to thank you for all of the very time consuming work you have done on this project. I am in awe of the sheer volume of information you have bestowed upon us all as well as your commitment to this challenge.
Second, I have only just subscribed and I am concerned that I will not receive all three e-mails (one per day starting today) before the “winter” months links are no longer being sent via e-mail. June first is the date that I would receive month 3 and it is also the date that the new summer months will start being sent. Would you kindly forward month 3 to me just to be sure that I will be able to access it? Thanks so much and thanks again for all that you have done and continue to do for us in service to Him.

  10. Michele says:

May I have month three also please! Thank you for your hard work.

  11. Melissa says:

Have you sent out the new menu you said would be coming in June I haven’t seen it and wanted to make sure I hadn’t overlooked it.

    • Denisesawyer says:

I am running behind {story of my life with littles!} I promise I am working on it {even now as I am riding in my car with my husband to a family event!- gotta take advantage of every “work” moment. It hopefully won’t take much longer!

  14. bethany says:

Oh no! I just discovered this blog as I’m searching for ways to cut down on our grocery bills while I’m in school. Will the winter and spring menu plans ever be available again? Is there a way for me to still get them?
Thank you for all you’ve done to prepare these menus. I know I speak for many when I say that I understand and appreciate all the hard work.

  15. Samanntha says:

Hi! Any update besides this yet? Have you had a chance to get the last 3 summer meal plans together? Take care! :)

    • Denisesawyer says:

Working on wrapping up this week Samantha. I am ready to get month 4 out the door. :)

  18. Despite what many might think, blitz brigade diamond hack is well known across
hundreds of nations all over the world. blitz brigade diamond
hack has been around for several centuries and has a very
important meaning in the lives of many. It would be safe to assume that
blitz brigade diamond hack is going to be around for a long time and have an enormous impact on the lives of many people.

    Social & Cultural Factors

blitz brigade diamond hack has a large role in American Culture.

Many people can often be seen taking part in activities associated with blitz brigade diamond
hack. This is partly because people of most ages can be involved and families are
brought together by this. Generally a person who displays their dislike for blitz brigade diamond hack may be considered an outcast.

    Economic Factors

It is not common practice to associate economics with blitz
brigade diamond hack. Generally, blitz brigade diamond hack would be thought
to have no effect on our economic situation, but there are in fact some effects.
The sales industry associated with blitz brigade diamond hack is actually a
2.3 billion dollar a year industry and growing each year.
The industry employs nearly 150,000 people in the United States alone.
It would be safe to say that blitz brigade diamond hack play an important role
in American economics and shouldn’t be taken for granted.

    Environmental Factors

After a three month long research project, I’ve been able to conclude that blitz brigade diamond hack doesn’t negatively effect the environment at all.
A blitz brigade diamond hack did not seem to result in waste products and couldn’t
be found in forests, jungles, rivers, lakes, oceans, etc…
In fact, blitz brigade diamond hack produced some positive
effects on our sweet little nature.

    Political Factors

Oh does blitz brigade diamond hack ever influence politics.
Last year 5 candidates running for some sort of position used blitz brigade diamond hack
as the primary topic of their campaign. A person might think blitz brigade
diamond hack would be a bad topic to lead a campaign with,
but in fact with the social and environmental
impact is has, this topic was able to gain a great
number of followers. These 5 candidates went 4 for 5 on winning
    their positions.

blitz brigade diamond hack seem to be a much more important idea that most
give credit for. Next time you see or think of blitz
brigade diamond hack, think about what you just read and realize what is
really going on. It is likely you under valued blitz brigade diamond hack before,
but will now start to give the credited needed and deserved.

  20. Rochelle says:

    Hi Denise!

First, let me thank you for these meal plans! To put in the time & effort and make it available to us is such a blessing.

Second, I’m having a bit of trouble with the lists that are more than one page. I bring them up in Adobe/PDF app and it still stops short. For instance, month one, week one’s list is a couple pages I assume(for Wal-Mart), I’ll see all the first page and the first 3-4 ingredients on the second pages and it abruptly stops.

I am mobile so maybe it just won’t work on my phone? Thank you again!!

  21. Christine says:

    Good morning Denise,
First I must say thank you for the amazing food plan. It has done wonders for me and my family. I do apologize but if may please bother for the 3rd month. I have unsubscribe and subscribe a few times and still not able to get the 3rd month. Can you kindly forward it to me. It will be much appreciated. Thank you for al your hard work

  22. I have just started the first week of month one and I wanted to tell you how much I already aopreciate you! I was finally able to go grocery shopping and stay within our food stamp budget, thanks to your menu plan and grocery list. I was able to easily find the items ans they were the price you said they would be! Thank you for allowing God to use you to help so many families struggling to feed their families a healthy diet when money is tight. I was wondering if we would be getting month 4 menu soon? I would love to take advantage of my grill and fresh veggies while sticking to your menu plan :-) Thank you and God bless you.

  23. Kriquette says:

    Hi there,
I just found this website, and signed up and was able to receive month 4. Is there any chance I could get the first three months still? This would be a huge help to my family, as I am still trying my best to get us to eat healthier, but the cost of “good” food is always higher than “normal” food.

  24. I am regular visitor, how are you everybody? This paragraph posted at this website is actually

  25. Could I have access to previous months as well? i just found this series and received month 4 but would LOVE the others! Thanks – typing to balance healthy eating with having a baby and a full time job is HARD work! You’re the best for sharing this.

  26. I subscribed and clicked the link to approve subscription and it said I would almost immediately be given meal plans and it’s been 2 days I tried again still nothing

  27. HI Denise,
First of all I love love love your meal plans!! Secondly, my DH cleaned for me – and threw away my months 3 and 4! I still have a link to month 4 so I can print again, but could you send me the link for MOnth 3- I would so appreciate it!

  28. Have not received any news, shopping lists, or recipes from the oh snap presentation. Just wanted to make sure that you have received my info. I hope you and yours are blessed on this beautiful day. Let me know if I filled out info improperly or if there is done other reason for delay

  29. I signed up and I have received the 4 month meal plan but not the other 3. Would you mind resending them?

  30. BTW, this is amazing of you to do this!!! :-)

  32. Renee Rosenzweig says:

I love your site just stumbled on to it searching for affordable meal plans. I was so surprised I could eat “real” food on my tight budget. Wish I could have gotten all. I arrived after the cut off for the winter ones. Take care and blessings.

  33. Can I please have the first 3 months of menus and info?? Thank you! This is very helpful for our family as we have experienced some financial and health difficulties that I think your plans will be very help for us!

  34. I was wondering if you had anymore meal plans coming out??? I stalked and stalked and found months 1-4 but can’t find anymore summer meal plans /:

  35. heather says:

I am looking forward to trying this. However, I was first emailed month 4 which is a summer menu. Kind of out of place given that it is March 1, living in Utah it is 10 degrees outside and snowing. Any way to get the menus, lists and recipes for the winter months now?

  36. I love that you were able to work in so much organic and healthy food on a budget. I do feel that there is a misconception that healthy food is expensive! I love your guidelines-especially that dinner should take 20-30 minutes. My husband and I are following the government SNAP plan from choosemyplate.gov currently (and chronicling it on our blog at http://theruralsuburbanite.blogspot.com) and we spent 1.5 hours making dinner tonight! After a full day of working I want a healthy dinner, but don’t want to be in the kitchen forever! Already I feel that the government plan isn’t really realistic for real families receiving SNAP benefits-I think you did a much better job with the realities of life! Thanks for a great read!

  37. Is there a way to get your old menus sent to me?

  38. I received your email with the links to 4 weeks of menus. When I click on the links I get a blank menu to be filled in. Am I doing something wrong?
