The Circus is Coming to Town!

Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey ® Presents Built To Amaze! is the 143rd edition of the Greatest Show On Earth.  Its coming to Atlanta in just a few short weeks and my kids couldn’t be more excited!  The circus is one of our favorite outings.

Built to Amaze in Atlanta

Between the thumping music, the exciting acts, the silly clowns, {Judah’s favorite} the elephants, and of course, an excuse to indulge in cotton candy, we can hardly contain ourselves.

Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey Circus never disappoints with performers from across the globe create the perfect blend of athleticism and bravery, where power meets fearlessness and amazement has no bounds.  From the blueprints to the band, the crates to the clowns, the hammer to the high wire, witness the spectacle as we measure out the perfect mix of marvel and majesty in an imagination equation where the impossible comes to life.

Some tips for First Timers:

  1. Get there early: there is a “pre-show” an hour before show time down on the show floor. ALL ticket holders are allowed and have FREE access and it is a great way to meet some of the performers, get some autographs, do a fun activity or two, and even catch a glimpse of the elephants up close! It is definitely something you should take advantage of.
  2. If you have little ones take time for a bathroom break and catch the snacks coming through before the show so you don’t have uncomfortable and complaining little ones during the show!
  3. If you’ll be buying snacks or souvenirs make it clear what your expectations are BEFORE you hit the door. All the bells, lights, whistles, and crowds are exciting and distracting and it isn’t the time to start bargaining. If you’ve already told your kids one snack or one souvenir or one or the other, etc. it will be easier to stick to your rules and reiterate what you’ve already told them.  Kids will know what to expect if you think ahead and EVERYONE will leave happy. :)
  4. If you’re traveling a distance from home {like us} pack pajamas!  We change the kids into their pajamas just before buckling them in to head home. They are usually sound asleep before we hit the interstate! This makes it so much easier to transfer little bodies into their beds when you get home!

Here’s a couple of things to get the excitement going before the show:

Print and color this fun coloring sheet and watch this video to get a introduction to the show’s ringmaster!

  1. My husband and I took our son back in November for his birthday. It was sooooo much fun! I read up online about the treatment of the animals and they are treated very well. I am an animal lover so I was concerned. It was a very special night and so many fun memories!
