Spinach Artichoke Palmiers For Family Movie Night!

The best thing abut the holidays is nearly everyone gets a few days off to spend a bit of quality time with family.  This season try to find a minute to slow down, curl up, steal some extra snuggles, maybe sleep in, read a good book, or watch a family movie.

Everyone loves a good movie about persevering, overcoming conflict, and pulling together as a team… a family in times of hardship.  When the Game Stands Tall is a movie about just that.

A movie based on the true story of football coach Bob Ladouceur, When the Game Stands Tall is about coach Ladouer’s leadership.  The De La Salle Spartans embark on a 151 game winning streak, which broke all records for any American high school sport. But then tragedy strikes and the streak is broken. Coach Ladouceur must teach his team that the game is more than winning and losing.

*Note: This movie does show someone being shot.  It may not be suitable for young children.

Every Movie Party Need Snacks!

I have a confession to make.  I am obsessed with puff pastry. I love it’s flaky goodness and the way that it bakes up so quickly into something that looks like your a pastry aficionado.  I ALWAYS have a box at the ready in my freezer and I’m always looking for new ways to use it.

It is especially nice to have around at the holidays. You can whip up a number of appetizers that are both visually stunning and delicious in literally minutes! We love these cinnamon and sugar palmiers that we made for our Cookie Boxes a few weeks ago.  So, it got me thinking about how I could make other varieties. Even SAVORY varieties.

One of my favorite combinations is spinach and artichoke – who doesn’t love spinach and artichoke dip?!  With those flavors in mind I whipped up these palmiers in about 10 minutes then baked them for 15. These were so easy and delicious I think they just might become a regular on our lunch menu! {Who says you have to wait for a reason to celebrate to have the good stuff!?  Family movie night is reason enough to celebrate, right?  I mean I’m celebrating the fact that I’m still in my pajamas and on my couch! HA!}.
