REAL Food on a Food Stamp Budget – Week 4 – Trouble Shooting

I’ve officially completed a month of REAL food on a food stamp budget meals and you’ve had access to them for a whole week.  During that time I’ve answered countless comments, questions, emails, and private messages.  AND I LOVE IT!   I want to thank you for all the feedback you’ve given me.  It has been helpful to know how to move forward into the second month of the REAL food challenge.  I’ve already made a few changes, updated a few things, and I have some important information to help you as we go forward.

WholesomeMommy's Healthy Real Food Meals on a Food Stamp Budget

First off let’s tackle subscribing.  There are still many people who are having trouble getting subscribed to the meal plans. there are a couple ways you can accomplish this:

  1. If you are on a computer visit the website: www.wholesomemommy.com and right at the top on the right hand side there is a box to insert your email into.
  2. If you are on a phone, tablet, or other mobile device go to this link: http://www.feedblitz.com/f/?Sub=925950&cids=1 and enter your email.

Once you do one of those two things, you will immediately get an email from feedblitz {the company I use to send blog updates and news blasts {like the meal plans}.  That email will have a link in it that you will need to click to confirm your subscription. If you don’t click that link you will not get the meal plans.

Once you click that link you will IMMEDIATELY receive a second email from feedblitz that contains my message and all the meal plans and additional documents you’ll need for the first month of REAL food on a Food Stamp Budget. AND, you will continue to receive the meal plans as long as you are subscribed.

I’ve been getting your blog posts but I didn’t get the meal plan

I switched feed companies and it is possible that you were subscribed for only feeds and not emails. If that was the case, you would only be receiving the blog updates and not the news blasts {like the meal plans}.  What you need to do is resubscribe.  See above for the how to.

Mistakes in the Grocery List

There was an oversight in the grocery list for week 1. There has been some confusion over the Pasta Fagioli recipe.  I did mean for you to sub elbow noodles for ditalini – elbow pasta is similar in size but is usually cheaper.  I also meant for you to omit the diced tomatoes. However, there are two cans of beans missing from the grocery list.  So, you have two options. Buy the cans {1 can of canellini or navy beans and one can of kidney beans}.  They are about $0.68 each, so not a total budget buster. OR, you can sub in the dried pintos if your prefer.  If it were me, I’d buy the two cans in addition to the list for the extra $1.36 if I had the extra cash to get a better soup.

Having Trouble with the Documents?

  • If you are reading from a mobile device, you will need to open the meal plan {PDF} in the Adobe app.
  • I’ve heard from you that many of you are having trouble with the RECIPE list file.  I’ve fixed that so that all the recipe links are now on the webpage when you click the link in your newsletter so you no longer have to open the document file.

Moving Forward – Changes I’ll Be Making

Going forward, there are some things I will do differently to make the meal plans, grocery lists, and recipe links easier.

  1. I’ll put the whole month of grocery lists in one continuous PDF – one week following the next
  2. I’ll continue to put the links on a page all together on the blog so you don’t have to open another file.
  3. I’ll be adding ounces and sizes to the lists to make them easier to understand what I purchased

Last Notes

I’d love to make the PDF meal plan also have the recipe links embedded so that the recipes were clickable from that file but I don’t have the right program and in order to achieve that I’d have to spend close to $200 for the Adobe program.  I have already spent over $200 of my own money to get this series as user friendly as I have and I am honestly, just tapped out. I also plan to give away some more equipment out of my own pocket as promised earlier and I’m going to stay true to my word, so the extra cost for software just isn’t in the books.

If you aren’t “friends” with me on facebook at www.facebook.com/wholesomemommy please take a moment to like the page. I am sharing more information pertaining to this series over there that won’t be on this blog – things like buying tips and pictures of products that fit in the REAL food guidelines I’ve been finding locally to help you be aware of these items.  I am also fielding questions over there AND I’d love to see some of your own photos and comments about how your family is enjoying, having trouble, having successes with the REAL food on a food stamp budget plan this month.

Of course, if you have other feedback, questions, or suggestions about the series so far I am ALL EARS and I’d love to hear it. I want to make these meal plans as user friendly as possible and I want to help you EAT MORE REAL FOOD.

  1. You are so loyal to this project – you continue to amaze me. Thanks for all your behind the scenes work!

  2. Thank you for putting so much into this – I’m sure it will help many people! I did subscribe when you first posted about this but haven’t been receiving any emails or updates. I tried to subscribe again but got a message that I’m already subscribed (?) … so in your “free time” (HA!) would you mind checking to see if I am indeed subscribed and if so, could you please re-send the info. If not, just let me know what I need to do. Thanks again and God Bless!!

    • I hate to bother you because I know you are crazy busy putting all this together – but I’m still not getting anything about the Challenge. I have gotten a few other emails from you – so that’s progress :) Thanks for your help.

  3. Thank you SO much for every ounce of energy, time and thought you have put into this!!! I always believed in home cooked/real meals for my kiddos. I am still VERY new to clean eating, and by that I mean learning what GMO’s are, the dirty dozen(still confused by that Haha!) and what to buy organic and NOT break they bank. It is definitely a learning process, but I know in the end it will be worth it. I can’t thank you enough!!!!!

  4. Nicole Evans says:

I will at the file when I am in my office and see if I can make you a pdf with the links embedded. It is pretty easy to do and I can do it on my lunch break.

  5. Like the commenter above, I wasn’t getting updates and it said I was already subscribed. I unsunscribed and tried to resubscribe and didn’t work and now I’m not getting any emails :(

  6. Holly Nauss says:

I subscribed and am getting the FB updates as well as email updates but have not been able to see any of the Meals On A Food Stamp Budget – either recipes or the menus. It would be quite helpful since our family of 4 has had to cut our food budget to well under the food stamp limit. How can I see what I’m missing?

  7. Add me to the list of those not getting the menu plans and recipes. I have sent you an email also. Help please?

  8. I am also unable to get the Meals On A Food Stamp budget menu’s. If you could add me to the list I would appreciate it. I have tried everything. Thanks Kathy

  9. Was wondering when the next month would be released! We absolutely loved your ideas and suggestions this first month. The home-made tortillas were awesome! We only will make them from now on, amazing flavor! Thank you.

  10. You are amazing for putting all this time into this. Unfortunately, I have tried and tried to subscribe (message comes back telling me I’m already subscribed) so I haven’t been able to see any of the things you put together. Any help would be much appreciated!

  11. Hi there. I’ve also tried to subscribe, but am not getting any emails. I’ve set up my junk filters to allow emails from feedblitz.com. but I haven’t even received a confirmation email despite having tried multiple times. Please assist when you have time. Thanks!

    • Denisesawyer says:

I just subscribed you. You should have received an email from Feedblitz {the company I use to send the mailings}. Your subscription must be activated. An email with an activation link has just been sent to you. You have to click the link. Once you do that you will receive an email with the meal plans.

  12. I cannot find a link to Meals On A Food Stamp budget menu’s.
Are they only on Face Book?
    I only have email?

    • Denisesawyer says:

They are available to anyone who subscribes to the blog – as soon as you subscribe {in the header of the website here you’ll see a place to enter your email}. You’ll receive an email with the meal plans.
      Hope that helps.
Let me know if you still have trouble.

      • Suburban Housewife says:

I have been subscribed to the blog for quite a while – I have never gotten the menu plans either. I tried to figure it out and fix it the first or second week, then just gave up.

        • Suburban Housewife says:

NO! WAIT! I am completely wrong about this. I am thinking of another site/problem. I did have an issue with the menu plans and I wrote her – she responded IMMEDIATELY and sent them to me. I am so sorry for the negative comment – I can’t figure out how to delete it – but maybe you can

  13. stephanie says:

I didn’t receive the menu plan for he food stamp budget.

  14. Could you email me the grocery lists? I downloaded google drive/docs & I still can’t successfully download the grocery lists. Thank you so much for allowing the Lord to use you! God bless you.

  15. It says I am subscribed, but I am still not getting the meal plans. I checked my junk folder also.
Could you resend all 4 plans if that is possible?

  16. Shannon Soehl says:
