Real Food on a Budget: Sauteed Garlicky Cabbage

This is one of our favorite side dishes. It is simple food that is simple to make but don’t let that fool you – it is not simple in flavor.  This frugal, REAL food side dish almost has a Chinese-food flavor.  I think it is because it tastes like and reminds me of egg roll filling {which is generally shredded cabbage and bits of carrot and chicken}.   If you’re not sure about this recipe, do me a favor and TRY it.  You might be surprised.  Plus, what have you got to lose – cabbage is a very budget friendly fresh veggie to try out without breaking the bank.

  1. Do you leave the heat on high during the entire cooking time, or do you turn it down after the cabbage starts to brown?
