French Baguette

I absolutely love French Baguette.  I most definitely had to find a recipe to make it myself.  There is nothing better than homemade bread – except maybe homemade French baguette!

Here’s my recipe:

          Thanks Tara. I had to click through to find out what you were talking about! I used to have an old photo holding the place here {before I took my own photo and replace it}. This commenter was asking about the previous photo which was a creative commons photo. ;) I’ve been trying little by little {as I have a spare moment … yeah right!} to replace old post that get a lot of traction with better photos now that pinterest is in play! ;)

  2. Tried this…came out SUPER sticky and not a lot like dough at all. Not sure what I did wrong, but we’ll see what happens when I cook it..LOL!

  3. Curious if I’d have to change anything in this recipe if I don’t have a bread machine?

      No Adrienne,
      I do not own a bread machine and have made this numerous times. You will just need to knead it by hand or in a stand mixer.

  4. Is there a way to make this without a bread machine? I do not have 1 and doont know anyone who does.

      Yes, I don’t have a bread machine. I make this without a bread machine always. It is a very simple bread to make.

      • It did not turn out very good. It is completely flat. I am not sure what I did wrong, Maybe I did not knead it right or long enough? That is the only thing I can figure out. Could you give me some tips for kneading, if you think that could be the issue. Maybe I used the wrong flour too. It was the king Arthur brand, but I do not think that it was bread flour, I think it is just all-purpose.

          Is your yeast new? That could be one thing.
          Another is the temp of your water. If it is too cold it won’t activate the yeast but if it is too hot it will kill the yeast.
