Easy Holiday Entertaining

My friends know I love to host parties and most of the time I cook the items I serve from scratch (with some help from the family usually ;) I don’t generally buy prepackaged items for parties.  However, it is nice to have items like these for when you’re having family in town just to have something to put out when they are hungry and you don’t have the time (or the energy) to prepare another meal.

Just this Thanksgiving I picked up a vegetable tray, a cheeseball tray, and some potato skins to have at the house for munching.  My in laws, and my brother and sister-in-law were in town for a few days and I was thankful to have them in the fridge.

The day after Thanksgiving we broke out the leftovers, heated the potato skins, and opened up the cheeseball and enjoyed a hodge podge of foods.  It was kind of nice to have a low key, appetizer kind of meal after a big meal the day before.

The Hormel Cheeseball Tray included crackers (which were delicious!), pepperoni, canadian bacon, and the cheeseball.  Everything was packaged separately so nothing was leaking on other items.  The cheeseball was a hit!  I could’ve eaten the whole thing by myself {but I paced myself!}.

I also purchased a Marketside Vegetable Tray.  The vegetables were fresh and the dip was good.  The only thing I would have preferred was some other types of veggies – like cauliflower or peppers instead of so many carrots and celery – but really that is just a matter of preference.

My husband picked out the TGI Friday’s Potato Skins and they were quickly devoured.  They had more toppings on them than any I have purchased in the past.  It has been a while since I’ve bought any, but I thought the cheese and bacon bits were VERY generous.

I served all the dishes straight out of the packaging (which is included and especially nice for quick clean up).  I was serving it to family and they didn’t mind. ;)   But, you could definitely dress it up a bit by replating it on a nice serving dish.

Several of the items I picked – and others in the Walmart Entertainment Guide – can be bought and brought to an office party pronto with no set up or clean up.  So, if you are in a hussle this season and need some good party dishes without the muss or fuss in the kitchen you should think about some of these ideas!
