Back to School Supplies for Less

Judah First Day of School 2013

If you’ve been following me on Facebook you know that Judah just started school yesterday!  We are very excited about where he is.  I know he’ll enjoy it and will learn so much!  It has been a somewhat new experience for me.  I was a teacher myself for ten years but now I’m sitting on the other side of the table as the parent myself.  It has been a little eye opening. :)

First came shopping for school supplies. School supply lists are different from school to school and grade to grade.  I was pleasantly surprised that Judah’s school supply list was pretty short compared to most I’d seen.  Several of the items were a bit unusual for school supply lists and were very much pre-k specific…things like bathroom cups and flushable wipes.  I had a few items at home to contribute, like disinfectant wipes {from green company Cleanwell rather than Clorox} and a toy and highchair cleaner spray from green company Babyganics.  The rest of the items I picked up at Walmart.

Their school supplies are cheap and I like that I was able to pick up school clothes and last minute lunchbox items {like snack bags, dry pasta, and fresh fruit}.  Since Walmart’s supplies are a great price right now, we picked up a few extra items to keep at home, for home assignments and for Eliana and I to do some fun projects together while Judah’s off at school.

Here’s what I purchased for Judah to take to school:

Back to School Supplies

I got everything pictured for under $30 {$27 to be exact}.   I have to admit, school supplies can quickly become an impulse buy for me.  I have an addiction to them.  LOL.  Especially when I saw all the beautiful new prints that Walmart had to offer in their Studio C line. I’m like a kid in a candy store.  I love all things office/school supply: pens, crayons, markers, folders, notebooks, etc. Does anyone else share my addiction?  Here’s some eye candy if you do. :)

Back to School at Walmart

Are you drooling yet?  Okay, maybe you don’t share my addiction, but I’ll bet if you have a young girl headed to middle school or high school, having supplies this pretty would make going back to school a little easier. It almost makes me want to go back…okay, not really.

Have you done your back to school shopping yet?  Were you pleasantly surprised by a shorter list this year like me, or is your wallet screaming for help this back to school season?

  1. I did my back to school shopping already and we are prepared! As a matter of fact, we’re so prepared that I could probably send about 10 kids back to school with all the supplies I purchased. I already had some left in my stockpile from last year and when our Walmart first put items out, they were dirt cheap and have been getting cheaper the closer to school we get so I’ve indulged. I too have an obsession with school supplies and I have at least one of each of those Studio C items if not more! lol

  2. I am addicted to school supplies but I’m still in middle school.
